Eagle "Rodded Flatback" Reflector Assembly
|
Here's a Eagle reflector assembly from I think a rodded flatback type signal. A lot of older traffic signals used similar glass reflectors before polished aluminium alzak reflectors were common.
This one is in pretty good shape as the reflector didn't have much spotting on it. The cloth/rubber wiring and the cork gaskets were perished and had to be replaced though.
These old glass reflectors were pretty reflective too, they gave a much more intense beam compared to the modern aluminium reflectors. This reflector assembly has since been dissembled though, to donate parts to my Eagle Flatback signal. I needed the reflector dish, socket, and X frame from it. The parts were mounted on a spare cast reflector frame I bought.

BTW that's actually a two lamp T12 strip but the ballast also runs T8s. It currently has a pair of Philips 5000K Ultralume lamps. It's mounted under my desk and I use it a lot for closeup shots.
