Very nice September 2016 AEL ATBS!

Never thought I'd end up with one of these! A friend of mine (a coworker) knew someone at a local DPW (department of public works) who grabbed this for me. It was used, but it looks brand new still. Came with a DTL DSS Fail-Off photocell (which confirms my suspicions of them using fail-off photocells).
What's cool is that the optic thing is GLASS! Very thick glass too! Also turns out the LED cluster is actually just ONE HUGE LED about an inch in diameter and totally yellow (possibly numerous LEDs behind a phosphor screen though). The driver is small and made by some off-brand company I've never heard of. I was expecting a Philips Advance driver (but hopefully it's a good thing this doesn't have one lol).
The three hanging screws around the optical are for attaching a bucket diffuser. These were not ordered with diffusers so not sure why they've got screws, but looking with binoculars at lights in service have these hanging screws.

These are about 2500L, which is about the same as a 750HR 150W 120V incandescent. About the same color too. I'm actually impressed with this. They look so cheap and crude from the ground but in person it's actually a pretty robust light. The casting of the top housing is way thicker than a typical cobrahead. The unit puts out virtually no heat after six hours of constant operation too. Though for only 20W I wouldn't expect it to lol.
It's best to just stick with what you have since no matter what it will be outdated tomorrow. It's like iTunes. Every time I open my iTunes on my computer it asks me if I want to download the latest version. I just stick with what I have since I'm used to it and even if I do click yes, the next time I open iTunes I can just about guarantee the same freakin window will pop up asking me if I want to download the NEXT latest version. It's just pointless to keep upgrading. Especially since the newest version probably has fewer loopholes lol.
And certainly a good score! (I think it would deff look better with a refractor though )
@ Zarlog: Yeah I've found that virtually all LED street lights seem to have this robot/alien/futuristic look to them. I'm sure back in the 50s and 60s the incandescent lovers thought the same thing when cobraheads made their debut lol.
