This is the lamp I got for my 201SA head. It's a Philips Ceramalux Alto 70w mogul base HPS. Has a green dimple on the top that looks cool. Got it for $9.50. Manufacture date is September 19, 2002.
Green dimple means it has lower mercury dose inside the lamp. Positive thing is it saves environment...but bad thing is....SHORTER life....so I honestly don't like the idea of the lower mercury dose...since it shortens live and shortens the USE of the mercury.
But yes green dimple does look cool! I got a lot of them...Some medium base CMH doesn't have a green dimple but a green paste inside the base of the lamp instead of white!
I don't get why they call them Alto lamps. Alto means "tall" in spanish..... The older altos weren't that bad. But the newer ones- horrible! Sylvania is a much better alternative.
Oh it will work...in fact it will last longer on open bottom NEMA bucket light than a enclosed fixture with extremely reflective fixtures....you'll probably get about 4-5 years on it.....but 2 years or less on an enclosed tightly sealed cobrahead......
