After 3 years waiting, finally, one of those OV-20s!
|
Today I went to the place I found a gumball refractor and three OV-20s, expecting to come back with that gumball refractor. I ended up getting this OV-20 and two 400W /C mercury lamps! The original owner of the flea market housing the OV-20s unfortunately passed away in the last year... At least four of the five OV-20s have been saved and put in sale in another flea market in the area. Three were 99% intact, one had a refractor cracked in the process of taking it down, and the 5th is still missing. Fortunately this 2nd OV-20 has been safely taken down and is now in my collection!
Two more are waiting for me in August, complete with intact refractors and 1950s Westinghouse Lifeguard /C mercury lamps included (I checked them). I paid 40$ for an OV-20 plus two /C mercury lamps (one coming from the OV-20 with a cracked refractor).
Note this OV-20 has been made in Granby, Québec!

However for the other one I would probably charge the buyer the price I paid it, if I buy it for 40$ like the one above. Or I may charge less, if not only shipping, in a trade with something interesting!
But heh, we'll see once I have them LOL.
Looks like it's going to be a pretty tight bid for that OV-20! I may also get the 4th OV-20 with a cracked refractor is someone is still interested to get it. As both Canadian and American OV-20s shared the same refractor, it could be fairly easy for the buyer to find a replacement one. Plus I would only ship the housing and refractor ring, which would remove most of the weight of the fixture and be cheaper to ship!
Dude, you wouldn't believe it, there's SO many electrical devices stacked in that place! In the three or four times I went there, I barely looked at the stuff sticking out. It would take hours to dive into all the stuff XD
