Full-power, non-PCB, and magnetic! As good as it gets! I've always liked slimlines, and for my first this is a pretty good score for a ballast! Kind of like the F40 rapid start GE Bonusline in my first F40 fixture. I seem to have a knack for good scores by accident, like in this case talking to a neighbor about fluorescent lights.

Despite being instant-start, this still has a bit of startup flicker all the time, and on my low line voltage and modified-sine-wave inverter electricity when I'm not running my generator it starts like rapid start! I tried getting a video but it didn't turn out very well.
I Know what you mean By rapid start like start up, I Sometimes have the one in the laundry room do that and at kmart when I worked there one that had 60W lamps wouldn't start at all on the lag side but occasionally it did actually start up and both lamps looked new!
It was made in the early 2000s so I think it's a Mark III type ballast but it's still good to have as even those are no longer made. It seems my 8' HO light rarely has a startup flicker though, I swapped out the original electronic ballast in it with a full power Advance made in 2004 though.
Yeah the slimlines i've seen will sometimes rapid start with well-used lamps.
@ Joe; my grandpa's HOs don't flicker much either but they start slow on a cold start like rspid start (well HOs are rapid start but like an F40) but on a warm start they instant start.
That and the magnetic ballast has a much better BF than the electronic it replaced. Even though I use energy saver lamps (forgot to check Lowe's and HD only had the 95w ones) they're much more stable in the cold running on the magnetic ballast.
Yeah the 60W ES lamps on my grandpa's fixtures don't flicker too much after they run for a while but they're dim and purplish since they're /CWX Sylvania SuperSavers. Interesting that HD didn't stock the full wattage lamps since Philips doesn't even make the 95W lamps anymore. When i went with my grandpa to buy a pair of lamps for the HO that's been out for all eternity they only had CWP 110W lamps.
In my experience lamps are more stable on electronic ballasts than magnetic...34w T12s on F32T8 electronic ballasts don't striate very much, neither do F40s when cold, and apprerently electronic slimline ballasts don't let 60w energy savers flicker either...that would be nice in this case as even indoors my 60w Sylvania cool white SuperSavers flicker for a few minutes.
Yeah the 75W lamps will help! The 75W eco lamps are dim in the cold but they don't flicker much. Just dim like F32T8s are at start up except they stay dim. My grandpa's shop looks like its lit by white candles on a cold dark winter day. No natural light from outside and the cold dims the lights. I told him he should get some PSMH lowbays and put them up instead lol. Of course the answer to that was No...
Or retrofit them to HO or VHO...
Do the 75w lamps have that rectifying-like flicker when cold like F40s do on a full power ballast? I hate the LPF ones that just...flicker...(but not striate) when cold with 40w lamps...know what I'm describing...a random, annoying flicker when it's like 40 degrees...
