i guess GE is now using encapulated igniters! It's too bad no one ever replaces the PLUG IN igniters though. Sad

Interesting, I guess they started to change the types of ignitors they use? I need some new lights, I haven't gotten a new streetlight in a while. (Other then that M-400 R3 a while back) but that's cool to see this. And I bet this lights up your lard well now that it's installed!

I like this idea of GE's ignitors I'll bet they last longer. It Most definitely lights my yard up very nicely, I was quite impressed with it last night.

My guess is that these encapsulated igniters are outsourced though, as GE has used open-board igniters since the beginning. I think the longest-running igniter design is the Westinghouse/Cooper cube igniter, which has been in production since the late 70s. Only the color of the casing has changed I think.
