Wow seems like they shrunk the LEDs down (counterintuitive, but the smaller they are the brighter they are lol). Hopefully the LEDs are underdriven though, as that will dramatically increase the life and prevent them from dimming out as fast. Running too hot is the biggest thing that dims out these LEDs.

I ran this fixture for about 10 minutes and it was cool as a cucumber. I don't thin that will be an issue.
streetlight98   [Apr 24, 2015 at 01:03 AM]
Not necessarily just heat but being driven at high power tends to dim them faster. I'm sure this will last a good long while though. Smile Is this your second LED?
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 24, 2015 at 02:07 AM]
Yes this is my second the first one I got was an AEL Autobahn 35 watt LED. It's pretty bright too but not as bright as this one, I'm quite impressed.
streetlight98   [Apr 24, 2015 at 02:18 AM]
This should be almost three times brighter then the AEL. I like the look of the Autobahn and like the Evolve too. GE's got the right idea, using reflectors to direct the light. Have you compared the distribution of this and the Autobahn against an FCO and a drop lens HID? I wonder how all four compare to one another. Would make a cool comparison if you decided to add three more poles on the property lol.
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 24, 2015 at 02:22 AM]
Three more POLES!!! wow I might as well just for kicks. Lol. No I haven't compared them but from what I see this one is like having type 2 nema distribution from an HID fixture and I'd like to compare to a 250 MH lamp no kidding this puppy is BRIGHT!!!
streetlight98   [Apr 24, 2015 at 03:01 AM]
Oh wow that bright? I have an older 24V 42W LED fixture with no PC socket (wired up with a remote transformer to convert 120V power to 24V for the light) and it's probably about as bright as a 175W MV or 150W HPS right under it but the light is very focused in a circle. Compared to my 50W HPS OVC, it was much brighter under the fixture but the OVC lit a much larger area. So it's like comparing apples to oranges as the expression goes.

Yep that bright ti also gives off a blueish white light that everyone likes it's not bright white.
streetlight98   [Apr 25, 2015 at 11:34 PM]
What do you mean by bright white? I personally dislike the bluish light. I prefer 3500K or 4000K.
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 26, 2015 at 01:48 AM]
It isn't blueish after all I took it outside to see the actual light distribution on the ground and it is the white light the cat# indicates it is in the 4000K range. I guess it looked different in the garage. my neighbor asked me about it and I showed her and she said NOW THATS A LIGHT!Lol. What I meant by bright white is like metal halide and not like natural light. I'm still not sure if I want to put this up or the 125, it still hasn't come from the factory yet.
streetlight98   [Apr 26, 2015 at 03:05 AM]
Hmm I say try the LED. Do you have an LED PC to go with it? Yeah typically bluer LED street lights are cheaper since they require less phosphor. You know, you never posted a side shot of the Evolve. Cool Razz Very Happy
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 26, 2015 at 03:51 AM]
Yea I more than likely will, But you know me can never make up my mind. I drive myself nutty. Yeah I know I didn't I just wanted to keep you'r curiosity up. Razz But since you mentioned it I will post a pic. tomorrow. I did just get a FPOLC TRS-2-NYC-2 LED control for it. Its upward facing too. I'll get a pic of it as well.
streetlight98   [Apr 26, 2015 at 04:00 AM]
Ooo upward facing? Hopefully the FP/Sun-Tech LED PCs are better than their regular PCs (they SUCK lol).
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 26, 2015 at 04:11 AM]
Yeah I hope so too,I just saw another I may get for it it's a Dark to Light premium long life LED control. ????? Hmmmm. The FPOLC control has a massive surge arrestor in it and its all electronic.
streetlight98   [Apr 26, 2015 at 04:25 AM]
DTL is awesome stuff from what i hear. Never heard of any complaints of quality and even better, they're less expensive too. DTL is American Quality Made In China with Made In China Prices, FP/Sun-Tech is Chinese Quality Made In America with moderate prices, and Ripley is American Quality Made in America with Made In America Prices lol. With DTL you get the best value for your money IMO.
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 26, 2015 at 02:20 PM]
Yep I think I will get it it's cool looking too. The DTL is tall like the Ripley long life control and it is green in color. I'm about to post some more pics of the ERS2 so check em' out.
streetlight98   [Apr 26, 2015 at 10:00 PM]
Ah the DTL one is tall too? To be honest, I think a regular PC will work fine too. DTL PCs say right on the box "THIS CONTROL WILL OPERATE ALL HID, HALOGEN, INCANDESCENT, LED, SOLID STATE, FLUORESCENT, AND RELAY LOADS." Heck, I've seen LEDs with those crappy Intermatic thermal PCs with the white covers with the ink band on them saying 120V or 120V-277V around the side of them lol.
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 26, 2015 at 11:32 PM]
BLAH! The ones with the ink band are ugly and crap. And then the white part turns yellow. Yeah I know they say that but apparently this one is specifically for LED operations. Sure a regular PC would work but why not go all the way high tech?
