My fire alarm control panel.
|
Here is the central part of a working fire alarm system! I got the panel on eBay for almost 250$, including shipping and the insulting brokerage fees >:C Since then I promised myself not to use UPS anymore...
I've been lucky and I got a perfectly working panel (since the seller claimed the panel to be "unstested", I sorta took a chance LOL). It is a PDRP-1001, a variation of the very common Fire-Lite MS4424 control panel. Mine has 2 IDCs customized for a sprinkler monitoring system. Since I don't have such a thing, I leave those zones unused LOL.
The system is working since October, although I still have a few devices to get before it's complete. Note the system wasn't powered when I took the pic. That's because I'm kinda afraid to leave the system on 24/7. The wiring is made with pieces of FAS wire so my biggest fear is a short in an IDC, which would set off the alarm. If it happened at 3am I'm sure my parents would be mad at me XD. Another small fear I have is a detection device giving a false alarm. Although I use NOS stuff (and detectors that don't have high hours on a system), so I guess the chances of this happening are almost non-existent.
