Here's my 100W /W mercury vapour lamp. Since the lamp was greenish in the original pic, I changed the colour balance to get a somewhat close representation of a /W mercury lamp in person.
I remember Geoff (gmercury2000) had made a pic of all 100W mercs except the /W. If you decide to make a lit version of it, you can use that pic!
One is more advanced than the next. I'm not sure of the order (other than /DX is the newest) but /DX is deluxe, /N is natural, /C is color correct(?), and /W is white.
If you look through a green soda bottle (a Sprite bottle is perfect) look through a lit /DX lamp....you sorta got what a /C looks like....maybe a bit whiter..... /DX has mostly purplish white color
/C is more yellowish white
/N has more soft white/yellowish color that is supposed to be close to warm white color, but when it gets old and worn, it gets much more yellow
/W is more 6500 K color kinda like the day light CFL color
/X is basically a /C inside a purple colored glass that makes it look like /DX (it was before /DX was made) (VERY RARE!)
/Y is basically yellow to use as warning light and has kinda LPS color...but was killed off when HPS was invented and used much more
there is also a /R but I donno too much about it.....
