N.Y.C. Computerized Signal Controller
Here, is modern state-of-the-art computerized signal controller. From New York City, and this could be found
at almost every signalized intersection there.

Different set-up, and different game altogether. They are sophisticated systems unlike the signal controllers of yesteryear.

New York City first began to use computerized signal controller in 2006 or so. Since then, they have been replacing the electro-mechanical signal controllers there. They still exist, but they will unfortunately soon be extinct.

Computerised controls made originally by Plessey, later Syntell, have been here since the early 1980's. and are still in use. There are a few intersections that are not on the network in low traffic areas and suburbs.

Here in the city of New York, it was always electro-mechanical signal controllers. The city had used them for quite a long time. New installations prior to 2005 or so mainly had brand new G.T.E. E/M signal controllers. Shortly after 2005, the city officially converted from E/M signal controllers to computerized signal controllers. The newer signal controllers are replacing the older signal controllers. Eventually, down the road, all of New York City's signals will be controlled by computerized signal controllers. Kind of scary to think about, yet sad at the same time.

Its a compact TS2 cabinet for central business district purposes. Controller is a CBD unit thats programmable through external communication. I see one BIU in there for I/O communications. Peek has a line of these specifically targeted towards New York. US Traffic/Quixote merged with Peek a few years back.
