Electrolier 1XF40 art deco fixture.
|
For this first day of my 2013 dumpster diving season I've found something interesting!
This thing was lying on the ground next to metal pieces from an old cooking range and a baseboard heater. Interestingly it was connected using two individual wires, which still are in good shape and not brittle, so I saved those should I need to replace a wire inside an old fixture.
It's NPF, some tar has leaked but nothing serious. Plus it's still working fine, no ground fault whatsoever! The end plates have some sort of design on them, making it an "art-deco" era fixture! No starter came with it.

Since you said it was just wired with the two wires instead of with romex and BX I wonder if it was originally used with a K & T system.
an LG member somehow associated with the Central Falls RI Sylvania plant and those cool Macy's lights has a pic with the same style light in one of the plants he's been to.
