Alliston Incandescent Signals
Was pleasantly surprised today when I came across these incandescent signals in Alliston. They also have a lot of CGE 8-8-8s left and a few CGE pedestrian signals left.

I'd say about a quarter of the signals were CGEs, with some incandescent Eagles and Fortrans mixed in. There are some LED signals but I think they're spot replacements.

Ah yes I grew up coming to this area as long as I can remember. They only use LED for spot replacements or new intersections there. Its the last area I know of that uses mostly Incandescent signals over LED. They also don't use advance there still. Its still the blinking green light Smile

Ahh interesting. I remember a lot of Ontario towns and cities having similar setups before the LED changeover but it seems only Aliiston still uses the incandescent CGEs. I know Barrie still has the CGE 8-8-8s but they're LED now.

Yeah, I also noticed that Cookstown still has a blinking green light instead of advance arrow.

I drove through here camping as a kid too. I remember this being the only place ever with tapered steel tubes stacked together for arms and poles. I think this is the longest signal arm in Ontario Cool

All signals were replaced. They kept all the double guy arms. looks really tacky but all the new signals even on the double guys are bracket mounts.

TBH, anything other than a hanger on the double guys look strange to me. Even plumbized mounted look strange to me on a double guy.
