Dead in two hours....
|
This is a FamilyMaid brand bulb sold in dollar stores around here in Southern California. They are junk! This bulb began blackening as soon as I lit it, and I left it on. After two hours there was a bright white spot in the filament where it melted and turned into an argon discharge lamp. Scary!

I've had a clear chinese Sunbeam lamp burning out in 200 hours... The lamp was first completely clean, and when I removed it the neck was covered with a yellowish-white smoke thing. I also recently relamped one of the basement's fixtures. The Indonesian Philips Duramax bulb inside lasted about 700 hours... not as bad but I had longer-lasting lamps before LOL.
We have flea market LUXTEN and FLASH incandescent lamps. I have experience with LUXTEN incandescent lamps in my hostel:
The former ones had only one fuse and after several months to weeks, they flashed bright white light, made a loud BOOM, and tripped the main breaker. Several of them ejected from their bases like a rocket taking off, leaving the base only, screwed into the socket.
The current LUXTEN incandescent lamps that installed, are unfused and have a single coil filament and they dead within a month max.
