During a changeover of new lights in parking lot
Found in Columbia Mall garage parking lot...they have a few of those garages.....all of them formally had 250 watt MH upward lights, but to preserve energy and to use more usable lights, they are changing them over using new Holophane fixtures that uses only 100 watt in most of them and maybe 150 on the entrance level. They do appear brighter...and the wattage is lower....Saves energy!

i like indirect lighting. Smile
joe_347V   [Mar 03, 2011 at 11:39 PM]
Interesting, never seen a parking lot with indirect lights before.
GullWhiz   [Mar 04, 2011 at 12:19 AM]
The indirect lighting is being removed, the ones pictured are the last remaining ones, but won't be there for long.......the indirect lighting is 250 watt...the new holophanes are mostly 100 with some 150 watt....

Indirect lighting isn't the most efficient, but it does a WONDERFUL job giving a uniform light level! Last winter I ran a 100W PAR in my bedroom and it was actually lighting the ceiling. But I was impressed by how uniform the light was!

Those Holophane things are cool looking, but man are they GLAREBOMBS.
GullWhiz   [Jul 25, 2011 at 08:52 PM]
Those newer Holophane fixtures have lower wattage than the old fixtures...old fixtures are 250 and 400 watters while those holophanes are only 100 and 150 watt!!!!
streetlight98   [Jul 26, 2011 at 12:16 AM]
Yes, but still are glarebombs. i've seen them in P-Garages here.
gailgrove   [Jul 26, 2011 at 08:52 PM]
I've never noticed those Holophane lights to be very glary, I know of several parking garages with them.
streetlight98   [Jul 26, 2011 at 10:22 PM]
The ones near you may use coated or diffused lamps. The ones here are like 175 or 250w standard MH
gailgrove   [Jul 27, 2011 at 08:11 PM]
Nope they are clear lamps, and these only can be a maximum wattage of 175 watts.
Form109   [Jul 27, 2011 at 08:24 PM]
this parking garage looks taller than the ones ive been in...some parking garages ive been in have very LOW ceelings...and i hate those.
streetlight98   [Jul 27, 2011 at 09:29 PM]
Here too. I noticed suspended vaporproof fluorecents in P-Garages here is common too.
joe_347V   [Jul 27, 2011 at 09:39 PM]
Me too, a parking garage changed out some 100-175w MH parking lot lights with vapourtight fluorescents.

What's going on with the picture here? Shocked
joe_347V   [Jan 18, 2012 at 08:53 PM]
It's a LED streetlight on a couch. Shocked

I think is has to do with the filenames...if two pictures have the same file name the older one will get overridden.

Interesting, so my LED streetlight erased Jace's File. These things are really taking over! Laughing
