The light on the far right side is actually a MH! A 400 watt MH actually works perfectly in a 400 watt MV.

then why do i hear the Lamp Life is shortened?...and won't the lamp have trouble firing up with the lower OCV of a Mercury Ballast.

Actually, call me crazy, but in order to get my 175w MV yardblaster to light a 175w MH lamp, I put a 250w MV lamp in for about 45 seconds and then the 175w MH lamp worked great ever since. how's that possible?
