VERY VERY Used GE 175W MV Lamp
I tested all the 175W MV lamps from Joe Maurath on my Unistyle. This particular one would not strike an arc for about two minutes, so I shut it off and turned it back on again and and inductive kick combined with the slightly warmed ends must've made this able to finally strike. This thing looks like it's got a million hours on it. It was indeed this brightness and color in real life. About as bright as a 60W incandescent lamp.

When I get my own place, if I have several poles, I will probably make this dayburn and see how long it lasts. It struggles to start on a cold start but if I get it going initially and just leave it running, I'm interested in seeing how long it keeps going...

Cool Cool Since it is dimmed out, you could use it for indoor lighting in your room.

Agreed.

I could, but a few more starts and this thing is probably done for. I got around a dozen 175W /DX mercs (all Philips and GE) with about half being lightly used and the other half being dimmed out, a couple being dim like this, but still start easily.

I meant 24/7. Also a probe start MH ballast should have slightly higher OCV which might help.

My parent's wouldn't let me run a light 24/7 and besides, how would I sleep at night? Razz I need pitch black to sleep LOL. BTW, this was on a MH ballast. You brought up a good point, there's a chance this doesn't work at all on MV.
