BEAUTIFUL!

The light in the foreground was the one that strobed like crazy. New starters and tubes and it works great! The one in the background was the completely out one that has the missing pullchain. I found out these lights were installed by him as old stock. They were leftover at his workplace and he took them home and installed them. Looks like they were painted though. The black sockets have chipped white paint over them as the reflector paint is chipped too. I also noticed all of them have two doughnut sockets on one end and two Y-slot sockets on the other end. All 3 are like that and on the pullchain end is the Y slot sockets... These are now running Sylvania F40CWP lamps and GE (HN) starters.

Do these Sylvania CWP lamps suffer from mild mercury starvation when first turned on? Are they blink-happy?
When i first lit the lamps, they were dim in the middle but didn't blink or show any mercury starvation. Probably due to the fact that i tested them on my rs shoplite, which released the mercury into the tube before i officially installed them, making them "warm up faster. After that first time these lamps work super well and don't flicker like one would expect from a new lamp. As far as i know, these are full mercury, jsut with an improved CRI and lumens. They're not that blink happy, but each behaves differently. Some almost instant start while others will take up to 10 seconds to sucessfully start. You can hear a "pink pink pink pink pink" sound for the lamps that start later. I think the lamps have trouble starting because the starter is opening the circut before the lamps have time to ignite. With chokes, that'd cause recifying but with these, the ballast will shut off the lamp when it rectifys causing it to strobe until the starter sucessfully ignites the lamp.
