Ooo What's this?! O_O
It's a Westinghouse Econ-O-Watt lamp! Man i wish it was mine! It was EOL though. along with the Alto dated "0J". i have a high-res shot of the westie etch so don't yell at me for a blurry view of the etch lol. I also removed the nasty brittle tubeguard (seems they used just the linear plastic tube sans the plastic caps, and only a couple lamps had them) so the lamp could be shown in true glorey :-) i want one of those striplights!

I've got an Econ-O-Watt with that type of etch (always liked the look of those)

Nice striplight they have too..

Yeah it has Y-slot sockets. If i was camping with family I would've asked the campmaster about having the lamp. I don't see why he'd object since the lamp is at or near EOL but i didn't want to ask since i was camping with my boyscout troop... I took pics though which is good enough i suppose. Smile

IT'S TOO BLURRY!!!!!

J/K! Razz It's not THAT blurry. Wink I like the wooden paneled ceiling. I stayed at a cabin that had the ceiling paneled in wood. I thought that made the place cozy and awesome! Soft white lamps are suggested in such places. Daylight lamps would make it look weird.

cool whites were used in all the T12s The T8s were somewhere between 4100k and 5000K. if you want a better shot of the lamp, there's a closeup. I'm hoping someone can date it...

If you go camping there again, just bring some sockets and lamps and fix the lights yourself...
streetlight98   [Jan 23, 2013 at 02:02 AM]
I'd love to do that, but I wouldn't want to fix them without permission (i don't see why the owner would object to it but even so, i don't own them) plus i'd feel a little awkward seeing that i'm not totally willing to let my troop know about my lighting interest. Pretty much no one from school or anything knows about my lighting interests. I've passed up so many lighting opportunities in public. I could've gotton a MH lowbay from my school in 7th grade, and a few outdoor floods/wallpacks this year as well as lighting stuff from camping but i keep to myself and pass it up. Neutral

In that case I'm the total opposite...I always inquire about vintage fixtures/lamps...even offers to trade can be successful!

Same thing here. Being bullied in the past nobody would care about me anyway, so when I had a chance, I asked! But I had very few opportunities in fact, two. One was my first cobrahead (a Sylvania GTE R37) in 2008 and the other one was an Appleton high bay fixture last year. But the latter was in a much better context since we were 16 studying to become electricians! So asking for an old light seemed perfectly normal xD

Laughing if I was an electrician apprentice it would make more sense...

Ahh for me it's the opposite. I was bullied like hell in elementary school for likeing traffic signs. I don't want to relive those days now with lighting.

That's unfortunate...
