CLOSE UP of Highmast!
Here is a closeup of a high-mast, as you see one of the lamps is out.

But what brand high-masts do you think these are? Would any of you know? I think this is fairly new, as the intersection was upgraded not too long ago.

This was found next to a parking ride (next to the sidewalk) on the intersection of I-225 and Parker Rd. Close to the light rail station, which goes in between the interstate.

Those are the GE High Masts.

Those are HPS? here they've been MH for as long as I can remember
LilCinnamon   [Mar 06, 2012 at 05:27 PM]
Yeah, they are HPS. 1000 watt HPS on each of them. 8000 watts of light (Plus ballast loss) Is a LOT of energy being used! At least HPS is efficient.

And I should of figured they were GE. GE is fairly common here.

my state today installs GE and Widelight highmasts, and AE and sometimes Cooper and GE cobraheads....AE has been common lately for cobraheads.....

MTO mostly installs Widelight and Quality Lighting highmasts, they used GE in the past but a lot less now.

As for cobraheads GE, AEL, and Cooper are the most common.

Strangely, I actually think that this is a HPS light that I actually like (I usually dislike HPS).

Odd how the highmasts are mounted in pairs with two units sharing a "peg". Here the two highmast installations have each unit to its own "peg"

Yeah the mounting configuration is a bit weird.
Truckersboy2010   [Mar 07, 2012 at 02:59 PM]
arnt these the same kinda lights that are in buildings like in gyms and stuff?
A_lights   [Mar 07, 2012 at 04:50 PM]
Its slightly different such as the mounting hardware
streetlight98   [Mar 07, 2012 at 09:44 PM]
These are bigger too and built for outdoors versus being made for indoor lighting. These could overheat inside with no ventilation and a highbay of lowbay wouldn't like getting rained on lol.
joe_347V   [Mar 08, 2012 at 01:20 AM]
Well they're slightly bigger than a highbay (I've seen one up close). Razz

There is one highmast with these lanterns, but they have European 1000W low voltage lamps and not S52 lamps.
