Traffic signal with new lenses!
Here it is with the new lenses, the green one is a blue lens, or a turquoise one, and when it is lit it makes a nice green.

How does this look? I like the new lenses better then the old ones and they match the old ones too! they have the same pattern as the other ones.

Are there any lenses with this design in 12 inch?

Hmm. i'm not sure but my signal has similar looking lenses...

Nice! I've always preferred glass lenses over plastic ones, my green lenses even the plastic one looks turquoise when off but is green when lit.

My CGE 8" has Kopp TL-4655 "Brick Pattern" lenses custom made for GE with the GE logo in the centre while my Econolite 12-8-8 has plastic Lexalite lenses which have a similar pattern to the TL-4655 lenses in my 8-8-8.

Mine still sort of lights turquoise though. I might get a glass set as well as some arrow masks for my signal too.

Interesting, I think my Econolite will stay plastic lensed for a while since it's a plastic signal and I have to order both the 12" and 8" sets for it.

Was there a 12-12-12 version of this LFE signal? Or even a 12-8-8? If there is I wonder what it will look like...

And what is the point of a 12-8-8 signal anyway? I never got why they made signals like that.

This is the 12 inch aluminum model produced by Automatic Signal during the same time period. The housing was re-tooled in the late 1980s when the logo was changed to the new LFE logo which at the time was the letters LFE in an upslant with an "atom" spinning around the letters. I'm sure you've seen it.
When LFE sold off their Automatic Signal division to Eagle Signal, they sold the aluminum version of the signal to Winko-Matic. They produced the exact same 12 inch housing as in the link...but with "WM" where the LFE logo was. Winko-Matic is no longer around.

12-8-8 signals came about in the 1950s when it was optional to use 12 inch lenses in place of standard 8 inch lenses on larger streets. 12-8-8 allowed for the larger stop indication, while benefiting cost-wise with standard 8 inch sections. Thats still the reason today for areas to use them.

We have a few signals with the same style rear as the ones you linked Nick.

We have a few 12-8-8 and 12-8-8-12 aluminium LFEs here.

Oh and I heard the first 12-8-8 signals (of the Crouse Hinds Art Deco design) were first used by the MTO at the end of the QEW in Toronto during the 1950s. I think it was on an old Crouse Hinds ad. Razz
