My *RARE in USA* cobrahead....the OV-14B
This one is a Westinghouse OV-14B mostly marketed for Canada. But we have some found here and there in USA, but pretty rare. This is considered the FIRST small sized cobrahead in the USA. This particular one is a 175 watt MV but has a ballast size of a modern 400 watt MV ballast! This one here dates to 1957!

Niiiiice!! These are very rare here in Western Canada now as well, they used to be very common, but after the change-over to HPS they were wiped out. There is one municipality here that still has some converted to HPS.

Besides Maryland, there are a few OV-14Bs in California and Florida.

Nice!, I personally have actually never seen one of these before but I guess it's because the Toronto area mostly used incandescent gumballs for residential streets during the the 1950s-1960s.

And they still use gumballs today...kinda....I see those streetlights all the time in movies!
