Ahh with the high performance FCO optics i see... I thought only the 115 had that option. They still offer the 125 and 115 with the painted drop lens reflector though. IMO they should just sell it without the paint on the reflector since they do a rather crappy job and the paint isn't even on the inside.
They want to switch to LEDs but i don't think it's in the 2013 budget. I think they're starting it in 2014. Now that the lights aren't NGrid serviced, they're using AELs instead of GEs. It must be interesting seeing AELs on NGrid poles though lol. In the mean time, it'd be nice to see them install some CMH or at least PSMH lights instead of HPS. That'd be a refreshing change in pace...
AELs are the most common among municipality-run street light programs and smaller utility companies because they're less expensive than GEs or Coopers. GE's are so expensive per unit because they lower the price a TON for NGrid and Florida Power because they are their biggest consumers. They litterally fill a carrier ship with fixtures for every shipment. Ngrid gets a shippment every couple of years.
I've noticed that NGrid is using FCO M-250R2s in southeastern Massachusetts and a few of them have made it into Rhode Island.
Niagara is going LED? They're one of the regions that still have mercs in Ontario. Niagara Parkway had some 250w merc AEL 115s the last time I was there. They also have some 175w merc posttops at the Falls and some 250w merc Crouse Hinds OV-15s nearby too.
Yeah there are some new ones in Niagara falls area. St Catherine's (which is part of the Niagara Region) has got a lot of new LED's especially around the 406/QEW area. A few mercs came down in the Downtown St Catherine's for a few of the LED's. I noticed this over the weekend the LED's weren't there when I passed by 2 months ago.
On a good note the 406 truss lights are still there
Ugh, LED last time I was there I noticed some intersections got LEDs but I didn't know that they were planning a mass change out like Mississauga and Vaughan.
If MTO dosen't retrofit them to LED/highmast or anything like that, I could see the 406 truss lights lasting for at least another few years, maybe 10. They're still in good condition since they were installed in the 80s.
