60 lumens? That's about as bright as a 7w nite lite. If you don't mind that amount of light you can put em in your chandelier.

If the darn thing uses 48 lamps they will be bright enough.

I don't know, who would pay relamping 48 lamp chandelier with these...

That is why I want a sane price, my point is at 5 times the cost of an incandescent lamp it becomes worthwhile. Otherwise I just buy the 40W lamps by the boxful ( 144 per box ).

The 12,000 hours rated life is perhaps the driver rated life, as high power LEDs have up to 75,000 hours in the good case. The second option for this "short" lamp life is that the LED inside is sensitive to changes in the voltage, current and turnings on, as the "electronic" driver in such a small LED lamp in not much different from my LED nightlights (A simple capacitive driver with a resistor, a series capacitor, a bridge rectifier and a filtering capacitor [To give you a smooth light]. In extreme cases the filtering capacitor is not included so the LED flickers [Not the mains frequency one]).

LED life depend strongly on their operating temperature, what would be here quite high. 12khour correspond to ~90..100degC junction temperature, what is realistic here. Compare to cheap no-name china creations, Philips is at least honest about expected life, at least in "standardized" fixture (base down, free air - but at least this is common in chandeliers)...

Sweet! I'd love to find one of these adapters! Don't care about the LED lamps though. Relamping incandescents gives me somehting to do when i'm board.

I've gotten some of those adapters at ACE before, and I think some Sylvania CFLs come bundled with them too.
