48,000 hour HPS lamp
|
Lamp date code says January 1999; lamp was original to a Lights of America HPS wall pack installed at my parents' home sometime in 2000. It burned steadily dusk-to-dawn until January 2012 when it started cycling. Based on an average of 12 hours a day (may be more than that because Seattle has many dark, overcast days and the photocontrol does switch the light on before many of the streetlights in the area), this lamp would have burned over 48,000 hours! Not bad for a single-arc tube HPS lamp!

I'm also surprised that the electronic gear in the LOA fixture lasted for so long too, I heard that they tend to blow quickly.
