You can see it's got a safety interlock feature, where the cicuit cannot be engergized when the door is open and vice-versa. Also the information label. 30A 120/240V AC or 250V DC.
Hmm yeah this is probably just an optional feature. I don't see the big deal since the top terminals are the line terminals, which are live even when the switch is off, so there's still a shock hazard, just not as big of one. There is a way to bypass the safety feature (move a tab inside) but it's a pain in the butt and I don't want to mess the mechanics up.
