Replaced Some Lenses...
Replaced the hand and man lenses in my CGE ped signal with a nice pair of glass walk/don't walk lenses I found off the bay.

Walk and don't walk signals were used here in Ontario during the late 60s and early 70s. They were replaced with the currently used hand and long stride man symbols in the mid-late 70s when Ontario began switching from text based signs to symbolic signs.

Sweet! It seems i never catch your new uploads for some reason. Neutral I love the older worded ped signals, especially the fiber optic halogen ones.

Sweet!!

Thanks, Mike and Nick.

I also like the older incandescent ped signals compared to the newer LED ones. I want one of those fibre optic ped inserts too, I know that they made three versions of them at one point, worded, American symbols, and Canadian symbols.

BTW, I found one of those fibre optic arrows on eBay but it costs $40. Neutral

Hmm. for some reason with the arrows I prefer the LED ones but i definetly would love to get one of the many worded "Walk/dont walk) peds here. Most don't work, so it's always a treat to find a working one. Cool

Most of our ped signals are now LED so it's a nice treat to see a old incandescent with the full walking man symbol (LED ones only show the outline) still in use.

Anyway I don't mind both but I noticed in the past few months they started using a two colour LED that has a incandescent look arrow as opposed to the dotted LED look that two colour arrows here had. That's my favourite type of two colour arrow.

Yep that's the style arrow i like best too (the incandescent-looking bi-color modules). IMO, the fiberpotic ones aren't bright enough. There are a couple of them left here and the LED green ball is so much brighter you can barely tell the fiberoptic arrow is lit at NIGHT! Perhaps if they used two rows of fiberoptic conductors instead of one it's be brighter.

With the pixelated LED modules, i've noticed one row of yellow LEDs with two rows of green (one on each side of the yellow) so the green is twice as bright. That bothers me too. The incandescenty yellow-green arrows are at least similar brightness in the bi-color arrows.

The fibre optic arrows used to be quite common here but they've been almost eliminated now. I remember when Toronto still had incandescent lights 4 years ago the turn arrows were already replaced with LED bi-colour arrows. If it was cheaper like around $20-30 I might grab one just to install in a future project.

I don't mind one of the incandescent look bi-colour LED arrows though. The pixelated LED arrows here seem to have the same brightness but I'm still not a fan of the pixelated arrow or the ones that use this arrow design as opposed to the squared off arrow.

I actually prefer the diagonally cut ends on the arrow better than the squared ends but they don't make the incandescenty ones like that. Here when they changed the signals to LED, they left the bi-color fiberoptic arrows alone. i'm guessing they're VERY expensive as they're pretty much two modules in one.
