Will this light up?
The "filament" seems awfully thick but look, it screws right in....

It'll light up, for 0,1 sec Laughing

always wondered what would happen, that would be a quick video though POW! Laughing Laughing

yep, it'll commit suicide after opening the door to zillions and zillions of elections racing through at once! Laughing

I don't think it would screw in all the way. It would probably not make a circuit. They made the screwable fuse module short enough to not able to get the bottom contact in place Razz

now, what would happen if you screw an incandescent lamp into a fuseholder? Razz Laughing Shocked i've had plenty of isses screwing in mogul to medium adapters into my lights. it's nearly impossible to screw one in enough for the thing to work right. I onlt have one that even makes contact out of all of them and it's a real pain to screw it in or remove it!

It will probably light up dimly and whatever's it feeding will receive a lowered voltage since the incandescent is effectively in series with it.

On a similar note, hooking up some blown glass fuses to a NST will create a arc inside for half a second before it gets cut off as the rest of the fuse wire melts. I'll have to try this with the screw in style too.

Are these still used, saw them as a kid in the 50s when visiting the US (NJ) still have some in collection and one in brass marked Buss and 6A Thin wire fuse.

Still used, i did send some to the seagull once, just as a lark.

LOL I think screwing it into a light socket would actually create a direct short!
streetlight98   [Jun 17, 2013 at 10:46 PM]
the fuse would open just like it would in a fuse box. either that or the circut breaker would trip. i guess which ever is more sensitive...
joe_347V   [Jun 18, 2013 at 04:01 AM]
Yeah, and also what amps both are rated at.
A_lights   [Jun 18, 2013 at 04:34 AM]
seems the resettable breakers have about a second delay when there's a direct short, i had that happen 2 times ever , probably a bi-metal strip that opens

The fuse has a red label. means 20A, Blue is 15A, green is 30A, orange is 25A, brown is lower amperages, (under 15)
