What do you see wrong here? This here is what went up as a complete pole spot replacement circa 2005. Maintenance contractor of the time put up used and refurbished kinds of equipment as in this photo.
Interesting, I guess back in the day spot replacements using refurbished fixtures were common. The last refurbished fixture that went up here was a 150w HPS OV-15 back in early 2011.
I think it might be a retrofit, im not entirely sure. In 2009 I know of a 400w R47 replacement. A year before I know of a R47 250w spot replacement, It replaced an OVZ. The greatest replacement i've seen here is an OV-25 being used instead of a OVX on a knocked down pole here. If you go to 2011 it wasn't in the streetview. I remember seeing the little wooden temporary signal when this pole was knocked down
I wonder if it's 250W HPS with a 40 tag? Didn't that happen up in Ontario in Niall's area? They just stuck "40" tags over the "25" tags? This one would be a cooper/Crouse-Hinds OV-15 is the NEMA tag is original though. Maybe Cooper made this in 400W HPS but Westie only made the OV-15 (OV-400) in MV for 400W. 200W-400W HPS lamps were only available in the OV-25 as far as I know.
Yep I am in Nial's area, those 40 tags were only slapped on temporary lights during road construction. The sticker on this westy OV-15 is new millennium, but its in a long series of 400W lights. So it seems likely a neat retrofit, may I say restoration!
The whole strand there is 400w including a median pole with short arms with an OVX and AE 125. The OVX and OV-15 must be 400w then considering all of the lights there are actually 400w.
Its funny because 3 of us live in Nialls area
The concrete pole next to this that has been hit twice just got hit again for a 3rd time! Just like the other times, the impact damaged/snapped the arms while the pole seems intact. This time, only one of the arms fell off. It was sporting the new glass OVX. If you want it, it looks like it is lying as collateral damage on the sidewalk side, looking intact! Amazing how it's a a rare concrete median pole, if it were aluminum like the rest, three impacts would've sent it into traffic 3 times!
The aluminum poles on this Sandalwood stretch are what the NEMA tags say in this picture .
Nope, I think it's policy to replace any median pole with metal+concrete base. But if anything like the last two hits, they'll reuse the pole, it holds up like a rock! The OVX left that didn't fall still lights too LOL.
You guessed it. They got this one fixed fast. Looks like they left the arm that didn't fall alone, and they put up a new arm+OVX (old glass type), which makes me wonder if there is a neverending stockpile NOS OVX's...
Update 2017 Feb: this past winter pole was hit 2-3 times, lost it's lumes, arms on some hits. Pole remains in tact. Each time OVX's were installed again
Update 2017 March: new OVX's appear droopy and one doesn't light. Pole was gently hit?
Update 2017 May: 2 new OVX's vanished, yet arms in tact. Looks like terminal blocks dangling from each arm.
Update: Today there are again new OVX's installed on each arm with levelling steps used.
It's amazing as this is the only pole in the median that gets hit and one of the only concrete ones, the rest are aluminum (ie breakaway lol). Maybe people would've been killed several times if this pole was aluminum.

OV-15 Superemacy
Probably will put another concrete pole there with another pair of OVXs. Those aluminum pole OVXs on sandalwood there are 250w, no?

And the fallen OVX is now gone.
Theyll probably slap a new OVX for the fallen OVX probably
