The OLDEST surviving McDonalds!
Well this is a landmark, but it is lighting related as there is a lot of classic neon tubing and flashing incandescent indicator lights. Inside the place are T12 fluorescents, and the outdoor floodlights still sport incandescent bulbs. This place opened in the 50s, located on Lakewood and Florence, Downey, CA.

I saw a McDonalds like this in Colorado Springs. A very old one.

Interesting, the oldest McDonalds in my city was torn down last fall and replaced (it was from the 60's) the lights in the parking lot where Westinghouse Low Profile floods, 1000 watt mercury. They actually kept the flood and converted them to 1KW MH Very Happy
BTW to me those floods look like 1KW MHs to me, they don't look very old.

Here all of the McDonalds were renovated in 2010. The entire buildings were rebuild from the foundation up. The new lights are blackish shoeboxes with a slanted bottom
@ Niall; I think he's referring to the PAR floods on the building. Wink

COOL!
I remember a McDonalds like that here in San Diego back in the early 70's.
What do those T12 fixtures inside look like???

Cool! I don't think I've seen a McDonalds here this old before.

@Niall it's those double par lights again Razz

Here's a bit of history: I found this is the 4th McDonalds location to open, and it opened in 1953. The city of Downey wanted this place torn down, and the owners fought the city for quite a while and finally won.

@Dimbulb, the fluorescents are F40T12 and F96T12 strips, nothing real special.

@Gailgrove, yep I meant the ones on the outside of the building. They have mostly US made "long life" BR30 floodlight bulbs.
