Cool, I hope to get a few off our old hospital when it comes down some time in the future, I know they are Holophane and old but that's about it.

Nice find, there's a few older buildings here with these lights, there's even a older underpass with a couple of these too.

I wonder if these use incandescent or merc lamps...
Tmcdllr   [Jun 12, 2011 at 07:55 AM]
Looks like there might be enough room in there for an H38 ballast.

So what kind of lamp is inside it?
prawnman88   [Jun 12, 2011 at 01:51 PM]
dont know yet

I think I've seen these in incandescent and mercury before, maybe they got converted to HPS Laughing

I worked on a few of these over the years. The ones we had were put up in 1966 and attached to county buildings. Ours were incandescent and I converted them to CFLs. Back then we didn't have good screw in conversions so I had to mount a ballast behind the fixtures and used a 20 watt U-tube CFL with the 4-pin base. Given that the incandescent bulbs were overkill the 20 watt CFLs worked fine. Great score!

i may use these as replacements for some patio lights around the house thx willis for the info
Nevada Willis   [Jun 12, 2011 at 02:55 PM]
PM, I actually still have ballasts for those if you want to try converting one to CFL.
GullWhiz   [Jun 12, 2011 at 03:01 PM]
Yep incandescent fixtures.....I know some of those in some places....I would LOVE to have one of those...they were also on my want list!
gailgrove   [Jun 12, 2011 at 04:42 PM]
I'm sure I've seen some in mercury, they also had a box behind the fixture.
streetlight98   [Jun 12, 2011 at 05:33 PM]
You may be able to use SBMV.
Silverliner14B   [Jun 12, 2011 at 07:03 PM]
