Wonder what's the use of these. Mini highbay? Recessed lighting would be another option but it seems rather sketchy to have a 200w lamp in something like a 6" can.
lite_lover   [Nov 23, 2020 at 06:42 AM]
I think these would most likely be used in recessed lighting or those enclosed glass highbay fixtures.

IIRC 200w is a rather strange wattage too. Pretty much right in between the standard 150w and 250w ratings. The lamp also looks a bit cluttered with the two etches imo.

Is it a ceramic or quartz arc tube?
lite_lover   [Nov 27, 2020 at 10:32 AM]
Yes it is a rather strange wattage. The etches are quite dominant. Laughing
lite_lover   [Nov 27, 2020 at 10:33 AM]
The arc tube is quartz.
joe_347V   [Nov 28, 2020 at 04:56 AM]
Hmm I'm guessing it might be a Venture only wattage.
lite_lover   [Nov 29, 2020 at 06:28 AM]
It seems only a few manufacturers produce it including, Venture, Satco, Plusrite, Dabmar.

Yeah, I figured that none of the Big Three made such a wattage. Would be interesting to see a CMH in this wattage and size though. Especially if it was universal burn.
lite_lover   [Dec 06, 2020 at 08:14 AM]
Yeah that would be an awesome lamp in CMH. Cool

200W metal halide? That’s a new one! Might be more equivalent to a 175W though with all that etch blocking the light. 💀
HIDLad001   [May 25, 2024 at 12:28 AM]
They are reasonably common. Very interesting to find a metal halide lamp in the ED17 envelope higher than 175w. This is the definition of a cram lamp!

M136 is a proprietary ballast for this lamp. Venture were known to make MH lamps with proprietary wattage rating.
HIDLad001   [May 25, 2024 at 01:51 PM]
But I have seen other brands besides Venture make both the lamps and ballasts. They are a somewhat common wattage.
dor123   [May 25, 2024 at 02:56 PM]
I've never heard about 200W pulse-start MH lamps in the US. I didn't know they are common ballasts and lamps rating in the US. The 200W HPS was unique to GTE-Sylvania.
