Hmm. I've never seen these with sheilds, but the ones of these on I-95 here have the lenses painted black to act as a sheild. The colorign of the glass is so perfect, I thought that Holopane did it from the factory, but I guess the sheilds have been around for a while....

We frequently use shields on our highmast lights if they're near a residential area.

I know i sound repetative, but RIDOT has stopped highmasts altogether. They still service the two installations they have left from what I see though.
