interesting! how'd you make that?
joe_347V   [Aug 20, 2012 at 03:28 AM]
Heh, I just stuck a pair of T5s inside some T17 sockets. Laughing
A_lights   [Aug 20, 2012 at 03:37 AM]
oh! I thought it was some kinda slim fixture you made out of plastic and made those holders for mini T5 sockets inside Laughing

25 hour ballast? If every cooperate business used those, we are doomed to massive landfill! Shocked
LilCinnamon   [Aug 21, 2012 at 12:51 AM]
25 hours is sure a long time. Just a day and an hour. xD
A_lights   [Aug 21, 2012 at 04:10 AM]
I can't help but to stare at your pony Shocked Laughing

Beware, this show is dangerously contagious! You could be contaminated and infested of... joy and happiness Laughing
joe_347V   [Aug 21, 2012 at 06:01 PM]
Must...not...be...distracted by moving ponies on left. Laughing
rjluna2   [Aug 21, 2012 at 06:26 PM]
The pony avatar is as addictive as Vince's old XD fox avatar Razz

I find it funny that Mike hasn't commented on this yet since he joking suggested this idea to me. Laughing

Technically wouldn't this work on an electronic ballast, lighting only one lamp? If that was the case, you would have a backup lamp once the one goes EOL. Even if you stuck one lamp in the lampholder instead of two it might still work (on al electronic IS ballast of course) Someone should try this!
joe_347V   [Aug 22, 2012 at 03:53 AM]
I believe both tubes should light if you use a electronic IS ballast. The T17 sockets are quite rare though.
xmaslightguy   [Aug 22, 2012 at 03:55 AM]
LOL looking at that "retrofit", and especially the '25 hour InstaBlow electronic ballast' comment Smile

2 lamps like this on an instant start (2-lamp) ballast would indeed work since only one wire is needed to each Laughing

Don't quite get the pony jokes/avatars here, but I'm guessing its from those old "my little pony" cartoons? (something I never watched...by that time that came out I'd given up watching cartoons) LOL
joe_347V   [Aug 26, 2012 at 07:54 PM]
Heh the ponies are sorta like a injoke here ever since Ian started using them in his avatar Laughing They're from that my little pony show.

Oh and Mike, you have anything to say about this pic? Laughing
streetlight98   [Aug 26, 2012 at 08:02 PM]
@ Joe; i was on vacation in the Whire Mountains of New Hampshire. Razz They charge you for the wifi so i just left my laptop at home lol. I'm trying to figure out if thise would be good for frying lamps or frying the preheat ballast. Shocked Laughing Razz
joe_347V   [Aug 26, 2012 at 08:07 PM]
Oh I see Laughing did you have fun? Razz

Anyways I was surprised that you could even jam a couple of T5s in the T17 holders, if I had a T5 IS ballast I could probably even make them light up. Laughing
streetlight98   [Aug 26, 2012 at 08:41 PM]
It's always nice seeing the mountains. Smile After catching up on 7 pages of comments it's time to upload! Razz Laughing I'd like to see you do that Joe! That'd be cool to see. I wonder if they ever sold mogul bi-pin to medium bi-pin adapters. I think they sell T8 to T5 adapters.
joe_347V   [Aug 26, 2012 at 08:59 PM]
Glad you had fun, Mike!

Actually I might be able to run this with the help of some 240V PL9 ballasts I have, the 240V OCV sometimes can instant start smaller lamps.
A_lights   [Aug 26, 2012 at 09:43 PM]
or if you have a junker T8/ IS ballast that would work too
joe_347V   [Aug 27, 2012 at 02:26 AM]
Well, the 240V chokes didn't work but the F32T8 ballast did! Laughing
