They are HPS for sure. There was another one at the entrance of this plaza where there are bolts and the base remaining. They may have taken it down while putting up the OVX's back in 2005. I have never seen these anywhere else but its an old enough plaza to have these M-1000's. Did they use them for MTO freeway lighting or road lighting anywhere?
There's a Metro distribution centre near 427 and Dundas that still has a few of these left on similar poles but that's all I know of. I think I might have seen a old pic of Yorkdale with M-1000s though.
I believe MTO never used the M-1000 even back in the MV days. Powerlite B2213s and Line Material Unistyle 1000s were used instead. I think the highest wattage used on the arterials were 400w MV in those days so I don't think any city streets ever used 1kW mercs.
Oh they have quite a few there. Vintage kings highways never had any of these shown either. B2213s I know were used, actually one is left in a parking lot at Renforth and the 427.
I've always liked these lights and they are definitely still MV. I remember two were out a couple of years ago, so that must mean they're still being maintained. I'd love to get one if they even get taken down, but I'd rather they stay up.
