gosh...i've never seen anything quite like this Before!
GullWhiz   [Oct 15, 2010 at 01:43 PM]
I could be wrong, but at this angle some of them looks more like AE 327....
streetlight98   [Oct 16, 2010 at 07:03 PM]
Nope. They're 400 watts. They also have the model 25 lens rim pattern.
PeupySam   [Oct 17, 2010 at 05:08 AM]
Now that's a really cool setup!
streetlight98   [Jan 18, 2011 at 12:32 AM]
There are 16 poles surrounding the track.
traffic light1   [Nov 10, 2012 at 02:11 AM]
Nice! why not use 5 or 4 1000w mv street lights??
GullWhiz   [Nov 10, 2012 at 02:15 AM]
This was setup way before the dude here was even born....so he had no control over it LOL
gramirez2012   [Nov 10, 2012 at 02:26 AM]
I've never seen so many lights on one pole. Shocked
streetlight98   [Nov 10, 2012 at 02:28 AM]
I'm thinking this was done as a lowest bid type thing. The owner's dad probably got a deal on the 400W mercs over the 1KW MVs... The best part is the lamps are all CLEAR! The owner doesn't like the "pinkish glow" of the coated lamps. He must use Sylvania lamps...
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 10, 2012 at 05:58 AM]
Bet they must get blackmail from the dark sky people and thank you cards from the power company...plus drooling from lighting collectors!
If these lights ever come down, you and trafficlight1 should get some, possibly all, and keep a few for yourself and give the rest to other members of this site...but hopefully these stay up!
Mike, does a family member or close friend of yours own this place? If so you might get to service these one day!
streetlight98   [Nov 10, 2012 at 02:04 PM]
My uncle is the announcer but that's it. These lights are 3-phase 208V so the ballasts wouldn't be any good anyways. Plus the two of us couldn't salvage all 128 track lights plus the ones in the pits! Shocked Trust me, I'd love to but my parents would kill me if i brought home any more street lights.
traffic light1   [Nov 10, 2012 at 04:54 PM]
what about me? My dads home is 8,000 squar feet. Cool
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 10, 2012 at 06:34 PM]
Yeah, you could give them to trafficlight1!
@trafficlight1, is 8,000 SF the inside of the house or your entire property?
For all we know, those ballasts could be multitap as well...so they could also be made to work on 120v or 240v...
streetlight98   [Nov 10, 2012 at 06:49 PM]
I think they're single tap according to the electrician i was talkign to. The newer lights (half a dozen 400W MH M-400s and another half dozen Hubbell sportslighters) are 120V with a grounded nuetral.

@ Brian, yeah you could try and get them if you want! I'd try to get the photocells. I told Darren I'd try to get a few raritys for him plus I like the older PCs too. At one time i actually counted how many of each model there was. Laughing i don't know the numbers now, but there are:
- 1960s GE M-400
- 1960s Silver pre-ITT AE 25s (like these)
- 1960s Westinghouse OV-25s
- (only one) 70's GE M-400 w/ missing glass
- (A small handful) 1997-2005-ish MH GE M-400 with MV lamps.

These lights may be scrapped though to provide some cash to replenish spent funds on the new lights. I'm sure maybe a dozen or so could be saved but saving them all is a bit overboard IMO. I hope to save at least half the PCs though if i'm allowed. they can't scrap plastic lol. Maybe a few lamps too...
joe_347V   [Nov 10, 2012 at 08:32 PM]
Some of the ballasts might have been replaced over the years and those might be multitap.
streetlight98   [Nov 10, 2012 at 08:38 PM]
I can't say for sure, but I think all the ballasts are original. The electrician i talked to (he's in charge of the music for the bigger shows and ironically doesn't do the electrical work for the track) said that the fixtures get replaced when they fail (hence the M-400s). He mentioned this when i asked him why they don't reballast the lights to MH.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 10, 2012 at 08:41 PM]
Yeah, DON'T let these go to the scrapyard.. Shocked If nothing else though, I think you and Brian should certainly get some lamps out of the whole deal...
joe_347V   [Nov 10, 2012 at 09:28 PM]
Ah I see, but yeah I would try to see if you could save a few of them.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 10, 2012 at 09:37 PM]
If nothing else you could save the fixtures and reballast them to something else such as 120 or 240v MV, HPS, PSMH, etc.-or even just stick a large CFL in there! Then you could stick it over your driveway or something...
streetlight98   [Nov 10, 2012 at 10:54 PM]
Yes but am i the only one who finds it impractical to haul 128 fixtures! Shocked If anyone, Brian is the only one who can get fixtures; i'm not allowed too. I can get PCs and lamps though for sure. The lamps are all modern, but a free lamp is a free lamp no matter.
