Maybe. I can't tell ballasts apart. All ballasts look like coils of wire to me.

It's hard for me to tell since I've never worked on a MV 125 before.

Well it's either probe start MH or MV, since there's no ignitor.

His was also CWI, this looks like CWA. Probe MH ballasts and MV ballasts look very similar if not identical

I'm assuming it's metal halide because the lamp won't work as great on a MV ballast

Nope. A mercury vapor arc tube is longer. This one's fat and short like probe MH ones. PMH ones are small and round.

Ok I'll take your words on it. I'm viewing this on my iPhone so it's hard to see the tube. but the ballast still remains a question but I guess it could be MH, just never seen so little wires on a MH ballast.

The lamp does look MH to me since I can sort of see the white paint on the ends of the arc tube.
MH lamps do occasionally run on certain MV ballasts though,
here's a pic
of one in a MV bracket type fixture.

Well, my yardblaster runs a 175w MH lamp just fine. Those china blasters overdrive the lamps anyways.

Correct, mercuryvaporrocks. It is Metal Halide. I've seen 'em lit one night. And the they have red 40 tags. That proves they're
metal halide.

Remember NEMA tags are not 100% correct.....Usually 99% correct or so

Yeah, I've seen fixtures with incorrect tags before as well as some others here.
