Double the OVX
Came across these two OVX's today. FCO OVX's.

I am willing to give one of these away and get a fixture in return. Which Is why I got two of them. xD

Both like my first OVX were made in August 2001, these were in service FAR from my first OVX, why are they the same month and year? I could take a wild guess that all OVX's in Denver would be August 2001.

I dunno where the date code would be. I dunno what they look like.
streetlight98   [Feb 21, 2012 at 01:48 AM]
Type out all the words you see on the etch and maybe someone can get it from there. The dates are usually within the etch or stamped on the base.
joe_347V   [Feb 21, 2012 at 04:01 AM]
Some older lamps also had a date code on the stem press or on a metal tag near the stem press, oh and when you're reading the base make sure you're not reading the install date thing (the JFMAMJJASOND 01233456789).
LilCinnamon   [Feb 21, 2012 at 01:36 PM]
That's all that is on the base. What is that stuff anyway?

My guess all these lamps are fairly new, they aren't cycling and seem to be in good condition. I still wonder why they didn't use the GE's though..

Why do the NEMA tags on these flake off? It was like that for my first OVX and now these two are doing the same, I guess electromark's NEMA tags then were that way? But my OVH one was more.. In-tact for being older.
streetlight98   [Feb 21, 2012 at 03:43 PM]
It's just the quality of the tag- cheap. the JFMAMJJASOND 0123456789 is so linemen can mark off when the lamp was installed. If it was installed May 2004, they'd mark off the second "M" for May and they'd mark off the "0" and "4" for '04 (2004).
@ Joe, yep the 175w sylvania merc that came with my OV-10 had the date on the stem. It's from 1990.
LilCinnamon   [Feb 21, 2012 at 04:25 PM]
My guess these lamps were installed sometime in June or July 2004 or 2005...

The marks on the lamp base are between the two J's and the other mark is before the 4 and the 5 but the 0 is not marked.
streetlight98   [Feb 21, 2012 at 04:51 PM]
I'm guessing these are not Altos then. Shocked Laughing
LilCinnamon   [Feb 21, 2012 at 05:04 PM]
They are ALTOS, the etches say that. But I am not so sure if the marks are CORRECT, cause they don't seem to be.

Let's find the dates on the lamps, here is the etch what it says:

Phillips
250w
ALTO
USA (upside down triangle) 85
(HG)
C250S50

And the base has ALTO R ALTO R ALTO R all over it.
joe_347V   [Feb 21, 2012 at 09:18 PM]
I wonder if the 8 in "85" is actually a b since Philips date codes are alphanumeric, if so than it's maybe February 2005?
streetlight98   [Feb 21, 2012 at 09:49 PM]
That sounds probable...
xmaslightguy   [Feb 22, 2012 at 01:35 AM]
Nice finds & looks like they're in pretty good shape Smile . Did you get them at one of the Habitat Outlets, or the Re-Store? .. or from the city/county

I agree with joe_347V on the datecode
LilCinnamon   [Feb 22, 2012 at 12:41 PM]
I got these from a construction site. The ReStores don't sell cobraheads, they would if someone donated them but the cobraheads don't really get donated. Never seen one yet and don't think I will see one. I somehow got lucky to find that one of the stores had 100w MV Post tops! I got two of those post tops and they still have two more at the store.
joe_347V   [Feb 22, 2012 at 07:11 PM]
I didn't know you got two of those posttops. O_o I've yet to see a cobrahead at my Restore too.
LilCinnamon   [Feb 22, 2012 at 10:59 PM]
I got one at first, then recently I got another.

LilCinnamon/RioLilC:
re-reading the original post, to bad I don't have something to trade for that one 'extra' OVX or i might be interested in it LOL

Also I was at one of the ReStores today, and they had... 2 GE M400's New In Box ...was a bit shocked to see them Smile . but they were $125 each Shocked

xmaslightguy   [Feb 25, 2012 at 01:16 AM]
@joe_347V: they were the newer style...
LilCinnamon   [Feb 25, 2012 at 02:50 AM]
Which store? I need to go there tomorrow. O.o
gailgrove   [Feb 25, 2012 at 02:52 AM]
You don't have enough M400s yet? I though you have repeatedly said you where not going to get any more lights until you move.
joe_347V   [Feb 25, 2012 at 03:06 AM]
Did he say that before he got like five more lights. Laughing Laughing
