M-250R in front of my grandparents' house 100w MV. This was so dim that barely any light at all reached the ground. After seeing some mercs in my area get replaced, others relamped, I took my chances and reported it. I figured there's more of a chance they'll relamp this now than there will be as time progresses. To my delight, it was relamped (wow it's so bright now!) and it got a new PC too. It appears to have two wires coming out of the arm, but I need binoculars to be positive since the wires were bundled together. Keywords: American_Streetlights

This arm, looks like a GE arm....the 60s and on style....but a closer look will help me make sure....

Yeah it's a GE arm, we have a ton up in our system.

This one has a higher rise than the ones used in the old Narragansett Electric territory. This is old Blackstone Valley Utility territory. Oddly enough though, the poles all have metal strips that say N.E.Co on them, which means Narragansett Electric Co. Also, this a 70's fixture though. Are you sure this isn't a 70's arm too?

The arm may very well of been installed in the 70's when the fixture was installed, but these style arms were introduced in the late 50's or early 60's from what i've heard.

That makes sense, as a lot of utilities buy stuff in giant numbers and it doesn't all get used for a few years. I'm not sure, but I'd guess that there were incandescent lights on this street previously.

In my area a lot of those arms are only 30 inches and 4 feet.....anything larger is a truss arm......and we have GE versions too.....those GE arms, (the orginal fixture) tend to be GE NEMA head, GE M-100, GE M-250R, GE M-400 I haven't seen GE M-1000 watt on those, usually they are found on 4 foot as the smallest from what I have seen, but there seems to be more 30 inch for the GE arm, and the 4 foot tend to be HAPCO brand and Line Materials arm....and a few various...

I once was given a 1963 GE NEMA head with original GE arm (the arm has a GE logo on the top mounting of the bracket) My first GE M-100 came from a 30 inch GE arm too!

There are galvanized steel versions of this arm near me too that were installed with 50W HPS M-250R2 during the change out. It seems most of the arms in the old NECo territory are HAPCO, but these arms, HAPCO tapered elliptical, and a different style tapered elliptical (with a triangular mounting plate) are found in Blackstone Valley Electric.

UPDATE: On my grandparents' street, all the lights on their block have been replaced with HPS lights, including this one. I assume the whole road was switched out but I can't confirm it, since my grandma only specifically said her block. I'm sad/angry/confused because there was no reason to replace these lights, as they were all nice and bright, as I've reported them all over the past few years and eventually got every single one relamped. So I'm rather frustrated that they still replaced them all for no reason whatsoever. Mad
