Nice shot! I guess these are pretty rare eh?
Silverliner14B   [Feb 27, 2012 at 04:00 PM]
Yeah they are pretty rare, there are only like 2-3 of these in the whole city of Los Angeles. There are also a few up in Santa Clara, CA.

it used to be a good mix of mercs on loop 410 in SA. from silverliner to OVX to unisyle to AE used to be a lone OV 20 too.
thanks to 2008 Loop 410 improvement projects. now from blanco rd to naco.. rd got that ugly hocky puck HPS lights

Too bad these mercs are gone, sounds like a cool variety. Here, portions of the 405, the 10, the 118, the 101, the 90, the 110, the 5, and the 14 still have mercs on underground series circuits. The fixtures are a variety, including M-400s, OV-25s, OV-20s, M-1000s, OV-50s, 327s, split door M400s, even a few clamshells (OV-20, Joslyn, Ovalite, Form 400), and newer 80s-present replacements including M-400R2s, M-400A2s, M-400A3s, M-400R3s, 125s, 325s, Hubbells, etc. There are also a few freeway mercs down in San Diego, the fixtures are generally the same but they run on multiple circuits.

Interesting adapter near the light. also I noticed the odd way the floodlight was mounted. Laughing
Silverliner14B   [Feb 27, 2012 at 11:21 PM]
You mean the slipfitter adapter right? And oh yeah lots of DWP floodlights are mounted like that. Edison owned floodlights are mounted from the bottom using slipfitters on standard street light arms.
streetlight98   [Feb 27, 2012 at 11:39 PM]
Yep the slipfitter adapter. Was that made so the service leads can be external?
Silverliner14B   [Feb 28, 2012 at 09:25 AM]
Yep most older arms have these adapters, newer arms from the late 60s on don't, they come factory equipped with a hole and an insulator mount.

Wow I've never seen lights like this in my area except for the 13-000 Series.

so this is 15-000 not 25-000? interesting. there are some in fort worth, not an overabundance but a good solid number of them. most of them are on the US 287 Freeway with a couple on I35 and some on arterial roadways.
