if you wondering why the new one is covered up..its because the MUTCD requires all signals that are out of Service (for whatever Reason) to be Covered.
no..i dont think its Quite that Expensive...but its Hovering somewhere in the 10,000-30,000 Range...the Signal Heads are the Cheapest parts...the major bulk comes from the Complex Controller Cabinent.
The price actually sounds right it would indeed be 100 thousands of dollars. In fact not too long ago there is a very small intersection near me that was reconstructed for safety, and no new traffic lights or streetlights were involved and dude it was MORE than 100 thousand...we are talking about 500,000 on that project!!!
sounds about Right...Signal Heads are usually around 300 Each...Controller Equipment is Between 10,000 and 30,000 Itself....and also the Poles....sometimes a New Project also includes total Reconstruction of the Intersection which does add Considerbly to costs....i forgot to Factor that in..my Bad.
