OVS fitted with new ballast.
|
Put a new 120 volt 100 watt HPS ballast in there. I found this ballast on the side of the road and it still works! xD
How is the wiring? I tried to make it as neat as possible. Since the old setup had wirenuts I used wirenuts for this one.
Ballast is small, the other one had a capacitor and was bigger.

For a second I thought it wouldn't fit in the OVS! Glad it did fit... Cause that would of been bad.
I guess it's a reactor?
Small ballast, but the GE One is a bit smaller then this one. Since the ballast block is hidden it looks a bit smaller.
The ballast also has the brackets on for mounting inside AE or Thomas and betts fixtures, like a 113 or similar.
But overall the ballast is small.
The other OVS hasn't come yet so you will have to wait a bit until it comes. I am going to open it and inspect it and then send it to you.
It's not rusted at all, but it's been in use for I dunno how long in a post-top.
@ Ian, If i remember correctly, reactors have less ballast losses in terms of energy, they're more tolerant to a dead or missing lamp. CWA is more flexable with inconsistant line voltage. I personally think reactors are the way to go, but I think CWA is the most common type of ballast for wattages over 150.
