I hope to get one of these in 250W HPS someday! Unfortunatly the ones around here are all 240V with 120V PCs so I wouldn't be able to run them until I'd get my own home where i caould run a 240V circut that I could run them on.

BTW, everyone, are there NEC rules against running 240V circuts because no one seems to want to bother to run a circut with 240V outlets to run their 240V lights. Neutral can a 240V circut have more than one receptacle?

I have one it is just not in good shape Sad . 240v well the sell step ups to go from 120 to 240.

What's wrong with it? Sad Is your's 250W HPS? Can you post some pics of it? Cool My 400W MV one has a 120X240V ballast but the oens used around here had simple 240V ballasts with the PC wired for 120V. Yeah I guess one could buy a converter for 120 to 240V. I've heard those things can be pretty unreliable though and little fluctuations can kill those things.

Or you can get a multitap ballast and install it. Besides the electrical supply houses, scope some of the contractors in your area, they might have some extra HID highbays they use for temporary lighting and may let you have one. Typically, if they're metal halide, they burn mercury as well.

If I had a lot of 240v lights I would probably just get a NEMA 6-15 or a 6-20 recept and wire up a 240v outlet. I think people here don't want to run one because it often takes a lot of work to run the wire. I think some older houses actually had 240v recepts near the window for the AC unit.

Personally I would just change the ballast if it's just a couple of lights though, especially 120v MT MH ballasts are quite common.

Well I'd change the ballast if i got a 240V lets say... M-250R2, but a light from the 70s or before I'd want to keep authentic such as a 60s M-250R or a 50s Form 400 Powerpack. If i could find a 120V OEM ballast from the same era I'd put it in. Like the M-250R ballast Bryan gave me. that can go in a M-250R if i ever get one since odds are it'd have a 240V reactor ballast.
