Nicely restored, and I love the stands you made for them. You should mount one by your driveway and have the signal change periodically....it'll really puzzle people

Nice! I suppose you could have one suspended somewhere and flash yellow in all four directions like in the movie "Cars". Looks like the type M is leaning to the right a tad. hopefully it doesn't fall.

Thanks everyone. Both four ways are tied into my basement intersection system and run off the controller cabinet. The Type D model is what Disney modeled for Cars, I think there is one hanging in the theme park. The M is indeed leaning a bit but not enough to fall or cause a concern for me. I "tested" the pole's structural capabilities wiring it, yanking wires, moving parts and shaking the light around. It is perfectly sturdy.

The hardest part was getting the thing up on the pole. It is about 90 pounds and a bulky thing to try to align...I ended up taking the body sections apart and stacking them individually

90 pounds! Wow i severely underestimated the weight of these signals! I would have guessed they each weigh about 40-50 pounds each.

Nice signals, my single face GE 8" signal weighs roughly 25 pounds with the glass lenses so I can imagine a four way weighing 90 pounds especially one with glass reflectors.

ahh yeah that's right these have glass reflectors and lenses...

The Type M has aluminum reflectors. The body and doors are thick though. M's were made to last. They could definitely last over 100 years if allowed... The D has glass reflectors in it.

Typically 3-section, 8 inch aluminum signals are 20-25 pounds... 3-section 12 inch aluminum signals are 35-45 pounds each.
Plastic 3-section, 8 inch is roughly 12-18 pounds, 12 inch is 18-20 pounds. Weight varies depending on the parts used reflectors/LED fixtures, etc

Hmm. my peek 12-12-12 aluminum signal doesn't feel like 35-45 pounds. Maybe since the lenses are plastic and it has no visors that makes it lighter. It only feels about 25-30 pounds. My GE M-400 is around 40 pounds and the signal is lighter than that.

I had a 12-12-12 Siemens head...old Mark IV design that had Dialights in it. It weighed in at 38 pounds I think. Thickness of casting also plays a role in weight. The Intelight which is mostly plastic and hollow inside other then the heat sink and electronics weighs 30 pounds. But when compared to other plastic signals, the Intelight is thicker and sturdier.

wow! I've never actually weighed my Peek signal. Maybe i'm just underguessing its weight. I'll put it on the scale the next time i get the chance lol. The peek signal seems pretty thin to me, but a well-built signal.
