Sylvania 1kW HPS
Restore find. The 1kW HPS was bigger than I thought too at around 15" long. Note the ceramic insulator instead of the black glass which I presume is because of the higher starting voltage since 1kW MV and MH lamps still use the black glass.

Don't have a ballast for it though.

All of my modern Sylvania Mv lamps have the white ceramic insulators. i think just the MH lamps have the glass insulators. yeah in the pic it almost looks like a medium base 400W HPS lamp lol.

Hmm, it's odd seeing a ceramic insulator on a North American made lamp though since most have used the glass insulator instead. I know a lot of current outsourced MV lamps do use ceramic insulators.

The 1kW HPS looks more like a light up baseball bat than a lamp. Laughing

Looks exactly the same as mine. I was surprised when I first got mine, not so much the length but more the width.

I actually thought the 1kW HPS was only slightly longer and wider than a 400w HPS but man I was wrong. Razz
