LOL Well I guess shorting cap mode works too lol. I wonder if it's just the photoeye that's bad though? It's got a surface scratch on the front... I don't wanna waste a CdS cell if I don't have to though.
The magnetic tab that opens and closes? I can move it with my hand. It's NOS so it's not from wear. There must be a faulty component somwhere. all the welds are physically intact. And there's no open circuit since the PC serves as a shorting cap (if a weld was loose the PC would probably function as an open cap). Unfortunately there's not much I can do to fix an electronic PC. I can almost always get electromechanical PCs working if I can get them open. The 70s and 80s Fisher Pierce PCs are pretty much impossible to open but the 90s-present FPs are pretty easy and Ripleys had always screwed on until around 2000. DTLs screw on too so I can fix those. ALRs are pretty much sealed for life though, not much can be done to open though because instead of three tabs to keep the cover on, there's one ring that goes 360 degrees around the base and cover to virtually make an unbreakable seal.
