Is this powered by linear fluorescent light bulb?

Just 2 5w lamps power it, I have seen Kenall exits on they are very bright

Ah so this uses PL5 fluorescents? The exit signs at my elementary school had two PL lamps each too, either 5W or 7W. They exit signs had vents on the bottom so you could see inside. The lamps they used were always warm white. The exit signs always had a nice buzz to them from the little ballasts. They went through the building though and replaced the metal fluorescent exit signs with crappy plastic LED ones that are less than half as bright. They also retrofitted the T12/RS fixtures to T8/PS. At least they kept the original light fixtures though, but I wish they would have kept the original exit signs. In their defense though, they don't make a retrofit kit that plugs into the PL lamp sockets, so it would have probably been a lot of extra labor to retrofit them to LED. The school and the lights were all from 1992, so not that old. They went though and made all the exit signs and parking lot lights LED and converted the indoor lights from T12 to T8 in 2011 or 2012, so the original lights were 20 years old. Still a waste IMO, but at least they didn't replace them after only three or four years...

Hmm I wish those inspector people would make up their mind about the lamp type lol. Didn't they tell you LED before and now fluorescent? Fluorescent is better anyway. They're nice a bright. The Exit sign in my room is still going strong with the adapter you gave me. I have it on a switch so I only use it sometimes. I typically use it as a nightlight if I get up to use the bathroom, that way I have light but since it's red it doesn't disturb my "night vision".
