Wow. I never knew that. I knew the outside attached windows were used in the 80's. I had no idea it went into the 90's. I have a couple with this same metal shield. I don't like how far apart the holes are.
I had a good feeling they were used into 1990 but didn't know they were used as late as 1991. By 1993 they were soft plastic but not positive on 1992. IDK if I have any 1992 FPs off-hand. I do know Ripley went to the soft plastic in 1990.
Yeah I have an April 1992 Fisher Pierce with the soft plastic, though the cover is much tighter on the base than the rest of the 90s soft plastic FPs I have. Not sure on the exact age of this one though since the label has been damaged from moisture.
What style base does it have though? If it's the style base that has the riveted brass legs like the 70's and 80's Fisher Pierce units had, those bases are slightly larger in diameter than the bases used on the 90's and later units. That's why the cover fits to those bases tighter.
Yes it's got one of the older style bases. I was able to pry the cover off too (but it was difficult!). The inside of the soft plastic 1992 PC is identical to the 80s hard plastic ones.
They're never there. Neither are refractor doors. Whenever I see a light missing the door, the door is nowhere to be seen. Even if the light just lost its door within the past couple days. People must snatch them up for scrap or something.
Yup, also what's odd is when the light is nowhere near anything or where people generally walk. I've had a couple occasions where the door is still on the ground and I'm able to reinstall it. Also why I carry spare doors on my truck. Beats installing a new fixture. Lol
Yeah I've seen that too. A desolate road with high speed traffic so no pedestrian traffic yet when I get out of the car to scout the ground for the door, nowhere to be found! Yeah some of the linemen here must carry doors since I've seen used doors end up on lights that had lost their doors. I've also seen some cases where the wrong door was redneck-rigged to the fixture. For example, a 113 that had a M-250R2 door taped to it. I guess the guy was too lazy to replace the light? lol I can appreciate that he kept it though, as it worked fine otherwise. But still, tape? Not to mention it was a 250W door (113 was either 100W or 50W HPS) so the R2 door had a glass lens and it slowly stretched the tape. The entire light and arm were both removed a few months later and the pole is still light-less today. I had reported the light missing when it was removed several years ago but they replied saying there were no records showing a light on that pole. I guess the city cancelled the lease on the light or something. Being that recent though, you'd have thought they could have said the light was intentionally removed. According to the wording of their email, a street light never existed on that pole, which one did!

Here's the 2009 Streetview showing the 113 on the pole. Note the light and arm are gone by the 2011 streetview update. And still no light in 2012 (and still no light today lol). In my opinion, there should be a light there since it's the end of the road.
