StreetLight #289
Parking-lot lighting. Nothing-special shoeboxes, but I'm half tempted to start getting pic's of stuff like this when I'm at stores...before they end up being replaced with LEDs

Location:
(don't remember, might be a Sams Club parkinglot)

These look very good! If they really need to employ LEDs, why not use retrofit lamps and keep these lanterns? This should be enough for a parking-lot application.
Btw. I also like the long and shiny pole. Cool

If these are indeed Sams Club or Wal-Mart fixtures they'd be 1000W MH (unsure if standard MH or PSMH though). They installed these at the WalMart nearest my house a few years ago and recently switched to quad LED poles and the lot is way dimmer. Rolling Eyes

@merc:
I thought so too, that's why I grabbed the pic (well that, and the fact LEDs seem to be taking over quickly here)

@Mike:
I know its not Wal-Mart, since they had 4x MH fixtures, and both stores nearest me converted to LED (single fixture per pole) before I took this pic....and yep the lots are deff dimmer.

Next time I'm by the Sams I .think. I took this pic at, I'll verify .lol.

Yeah they are taking over quickly. Went down in Littleton yesterday in the South Park complex (On Mineral Road from Santa Fe all the way to Broadway) those black poles which used to have either Model 25 FCO's or M-400 A FCO's on them now are ALL LED at this point, so things are getting converted fast. And all the davits in Highlands Ranch are all LED now too. I think give it a couple years and the comminuties which still are HPS dominant (Like Lakewood, their davits are still mostly HPS with some converted to LED, while their traffic signals are starting to be mostly LED now) will start being entirely LED probably very soon.

Yeah, I noticed all those black poles went LED...last year.
I think Littleton did a city-wide LED conversion of cobraheads (the post-tops in the little downtown area are still HPS though)
And yep over the past couple years Highlands Ranch has been converting.
Out where I live the neighborhoods are all HPS, and allot of the main roads are still mostly HPS.

I know a small section of wadsworth in Lakewood that was widened & new HPS fixtures installed in 2016.

I was at Sams today, and yep that's where I took this pic Smile

Yeah, LED's are everywhere, from what I can see Denver still has lots of HPS up, Lakewood has a couple areas they converted to LED... Like Kipling Parkway in between Alameda and US 285, a couple sections of those Davits are now LEDs, most of it is still HPS but a couple sections are converted.. It just depends on the area really. When I was in Colorado Springs a couple weeks ago, most of that is HPS, with new LED's popping up only in new installations or failed fixture replacements from what I recall. CDOT has well.. LED'ed everything at this point, HPS is only very few and far between on CDOT light poles or traffic lights these days... And where I live up north in Longmont, lots of this town is still HPS, but some stretches of road, say Hover St is almost entirely LED at this point, though 17th ave which I traverse almost the entire road to get to work and back, is still mostly HPS. And in Ft Collins... Those areas are mixed, some areas are now mostly LED, and other areas are still HPS, and some just mixed.
xmaslightguy   [Nov 28, 2017 at 05:17 AM]
Yep, its pretty surprising how fast the things are taking over .lol. CDOT certainly took off with the LEDs

Been a long time since I was last in Ft Collins...I wish I had been into taking streetlight pictures back then (well that, and things like digital cameras were around)

Sometime if youre back in Littleton or Highlands Ranch, take a close look at how random they were with putting up different fixtures...its like the guys in those places (or atleast parts of them) had a truck dumped full of mixed lights, and just put up whatever they grabbed first . LOL

I think I mighta saw a couple LED things in my neighborhood the other night Surprised I was up on the roof fixing some non-working sets of Xmas lights, and off in the distance I could see these 2 bright LED things that looked a bit high to be someones houses...
(but never know since there is small hills...some night I'm gonna go try to find 'em just to see what they are. Maybe next month when I go out looking at Xmas lights)
