Temporary and Permanent Traffic Signals and Streetlights.
Here's a shot of some temporary traffic signals and streetlights along with some new King Luminaire K833 reproduction teardrop fixtures on a city street in Brampton. You could also see the unused new signal mounted so that they are facing away from traffic since they 're not in service yet.

Shocked That's pretty bad quality if these were only in use for around 2 months, wonder what brand of lamps they used Rolling Eyes

Let me guess A-L-T-O-S Rolling Eyes I posted another pictures showing the crappynes of ALTOs.

GullWhiz   [Sep 02, 2010 at 02:41 PM]
Hmmm......how many wattages are they and are there house side reflectors in them? One of my friends told me if its 150 watt and higher, and it has a house side reflectors, it tends to have a early failure!
gailgrove   [Sep 02, 2010 at 02:46 PM]
They are mostly 250 watts with a few 400 watts mixed in at big intersections and they do have house side reflectors in them, but even so 2 months Rolling Eyes
GullWhiz   [Sep 02, 2010 at 02:55 PM]
250 watt with 400 watt with metallic house side reflectors...even worse...

Trust me...it's NOT always about the quality of lamps....here's a story....a friend of mine had a Powerbracket HPS ones back in the late 70s early 80s....he put a WESTINGHOUSE BRAND HPS in...and decided to use a gumball refractor with a house side shield....it didn't even last 2 days! The lamp died!

Update they are now in the process of installing side walk lights now.
joe_347V   [Oct 11, 2010 at 05:18 AM]
I wonder if the side walk lights look like the ones in this pic .
gailgrove   [Oct 11, 2010 at 02:55 PM]
Nope there just smaller versions of the K833 I think there the K704 Coronet Jr. Smile
Form109   [Nov 24, 2010 at 11:57 PM]
pretty nice looking setup....i even like the way the temp setup looks,in the US in most cases out of service (or new unactivated) signals are typically covered by a bag like cover.
gailgrove   [Nov 25, 2010 at 12:03 AM]
If they can not be turned away from the road way (like the temp lights) we still cover them Wink They are nice but this is the cr@pist area of my city and they aren't great quality (many lights stopped working and or cycling a few months after being installed, this was really a waste of money Rolling Eyes
Form109   [Nov 25, 2010 at 12:14 AM]
suprisingly Repro Teardrops aren't that common in Texas....i have yet to see any,but they were as common as dirt in alabama
gailgrove   [Nov 25, 2010 at 08:25 PM]
There not overly common here either.
joe_347V   [Nov 26, 2010 at 05:30 AM]
I think there are even more of those MH gumballs than these repro teardrops here.
gailgrove   [Feb 05, 2011 at 09:52 PM]
One odd thing that seems to get done here quite often (like here) is that they will put a city owned and maintained street light over a private entrance, I am still mystified as to why they do that Rolling Eyes
joe_347V   [Feb 06, 2011 at 01:00 AM]
Yeah, York Region does the same thing too also don't know why though.
gailgrove   [May 12, 2011 at 11:59 PM]
The 125 on this pole may of been the one that I now own Smile
joe_347V   [May 13, 2011 at 10:16 PM]

gailgrove   [May 13, 2011 at 10:19 PM]
