I find it interesting how in your area the lines stop between the borders, here they continue between zones

well in this picture its not a borders of land or state or whatever...its borders of ELECTRICAL COMPANY TERRITORY...so whoever lives in the BGE line pays the BGE electrical bills and whoever lives in PEPCO line pays the PEPCO electrical bills.....in state of MD we have like either 7 or 8 different electrical companies....BGE is the biggest and covers 11 counties! BGE uses truss arms on their wooden poles....while PEPCO uses single guys and double guys on forked arms and straight masts.

Yep, there is more of a definite border between electrical companies in your area Jace, over here the lines pass through border like how Niall said, and they even use mostly the same arms and lumes.

You don't see that here in British Columbia as B.C. Hydro services the whole province.

Here I am serviced by IREA, they use MV yardblasters for residential, and for big roads they use MV M-400s on double guy wire arms or other. (from original to r3) and their electrical poles have a simple standardized design to hold the wires.

Denver, is Xcel energy, they have HPS cobraheads and Tapered E arms, sometimes truss or Guy Wire. MVs are rare in Xcel energy. And their Electrical pole's have scattered designs. More standardized up in the mountains.

Colorado Springs has their own utility, lots of M-250 A's, some M-400 A's, M-400 r2 FCOs... And more. Most HPS, some scattered Mercs still laying around there. Their electrical lines are standardized, and way different than IREA and Xcel.

Both electrical companies here have a LOT of OV-15 silverliners, OV-12s GE M-250R1 for mercs.....PEPCO has a lot more AE 13s for mercs and more LM 175s...BGE has more GE M-250Rs and more older low wattage cobraheads........BGE has powerdoors for bigger fixtures and in some older HPS smaller fixtures had powerdoors....PEPCO has no powerdoors except for GE M-250R1s which I've seen so far....Today both companies are installing AE 115sm BGE in sag lense format and PEPCO in FCO format...

My power company Allegheny Power has many OV-15's, OV-25's, M-250R1's and 13 Series including 25 Series streetlight which are all mercury vapor. Some of the OVZ's, OVH's and 113 Series are high pressure sodium but the majority of old streetlights are mercury vapor.

Duquesne Light also has many OV-15's, OV-25's and M-250R1 and Unistyle 175's in mercury vapor but the majority of the streetlights are high pressure sodium such as the L-150's, L-250's, M-250R1's, M-250A's, OVS's and 113 Series.

Tarentum electric has many mercury vapor and high pressure sodium lights mixed together and the borough also is it's own utility provider Redcat Power.

Alex, how do you easily tell the difference between Allegheny power and Duquesne light in PA? I know those two companies has same or similar streetlight arms, mostly the bottom braced 6 foot upsweep arms....so how do you tell??? The above pic very different arms, made it a piece of cake to figure it out!

I just said there was a difference, Duquesne Light has more HPS than Allegheny Power and the wattage labels are different on older mercury vapor streetlights, Duquesne Light uses reflective numbers instead of color coded labels that Allegheny Power uses. Also Duquesne Light does not use ANY truss arms compared to Allegheny Power. Duquesne Light only uses double guy arms.

Do you know what Littletown, PA is powered by? Just south of Littletown, PA is BGE and there are some really old old radial waves and quartermoons there...
